"Power to the People" panel description: Renewable energy replaces conventional fuels in at least four distinct areas: electricity generation, air and water heating/cooling, motor fuels, and off-grid energy services. This panel makes a case for examining energy transition in smart cities as a reconfiguration of our current economic, environmental, and social practices. Shifting toward smart grid applications, green energy, and low-carbon economy is supposed to play a critical role in addressing some of the most prominent issues facing the world today.

Join the discussion to explore how this transition may effect issues as diverse as climate change, health indicators, and energy security.
